Bernard Loriol

Founder & Chairman

Bernard Loriol has a noteworthy 40+ years of financial market success. Shortly after graduating from Geneva university, Mr Loriol became the CIO of a family office and the treasurer and head portfolio manager of a major Swiss life insurance company. He launched and managed many successful mutual funds and was an investment committee member of Geneva’s oldest private bank, and multiple pension funds. In 2001, after semi-retirement on a remote island in Madagascar, Mr Loriol returned to hedge funds and commodities, working for the best performing gold equity fund.

Simultaneously, he founded BAC AG, which, in 2005 launched the first Platinum Mutual Fund with CHF 4m and grew to CHF 400m by 2007 (half was performance). At this time it was Europe's No. 1 performing fund among a universe of 20'000. Subsequently, Bernard has been involved in each of the Top 3 performing Swiss mutual funds in 2019 and the 2020 No. 1 performer (Solar, Metal exploration, and Gold Equities).

Zack Hartwanger is a seasoned professional renowned for his expertise in frontier markets, with a particular focus on Africa. His career is distinguished by notable achievements, including the pioneering of CLEANtech Metal Equities, the firm’s flagship offering, which underscores his commitment to sustainable market strategies.

With deep knowledge of frontier markets, especially in Africa, Zack plays a crucial role in shaping investment decisions. His ability to navigate complex financial landscapes has been instrumental in guiding the firm’s strategic direction. As a leader, Zack drives initiatives in market analysis, investor relations, and business development, consistently demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to evolving market trends.

Beyond his professional contributions, Zack is a dedicated mentor at the UCT Graduate School of Business, reflecting his commitment to fostering the next generation of professionals.

Zack holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practices and a Bachelor of Science in Economic & Management from the University of Cape Town.
